SISTEKO : Oil separators
Oil separators are of the gravity type. Oil, gasoline, diesel fuel, lubricants, fuel oil and other light liquids have specific weights lower than that of water. This fact is applied in the operation of the oil separator: the separators slows down the flow of precipitation water, whereby particles of light liquids separate and emerge at the surface. Purified water is safely discharged through the outlet port into the sewage network, and groundwater is protected from potential pollutants. Oil separators are applied in separating precipitation water from light liquids in the form of fuels or oils (< 0.95 kg/L), which represent threats for groundwater pollution.

Prior to releasing precipitation water into a sewage network,
water needs to be treated to ensure the following limit levels of
pollutants:
• up to 5 mg of matter / litre – coalescent oil traps
• up to 100 mg of matter / litre – gravity oil traps
